This year the Department was honored by the European Turbomachinery Society to host the European Conference on Turbomachinery. (ETC). The conference was organized for the 15th time, this time in Budapest between April 24 and 28.  The scope of the conference covers from a scientific and engineering perspective, the fluid dynamics and thermodynamics of all kind of turbomachinery in the attempt to improve their performance, stability and sustainability characteristics. At the end of July, the results of the NKFIH OTKA grants were announced.  Dr.  János Vad, full professor and head of our Department, has won funding with his proposal entitled "Concerted acoustic and aerodynamic analysis on unmanned aerial vehicles for establishing new guidelines on noise reduction". The Department of Fluid Mechanics has organized and hosted the Conference on Modelling of Fluid Flow CMFF'22 for the 18th time between August 30th and September 2nd. The DAAL-CON Ltd. has been dealing with textile air ducts in the past 10 years. Nowadays they produce their own product labelled EXANDAIR. The development began 5 years ago with the help of the Department of Fluid Mechanics. The colleagues of the Department developed a simulation software for the EXANDAIR textile airduct system. The BUTE Faculty of Mechanical Engineering works together with Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Budapest since 2016 on R&D projects that will provide the materials, technologies, and methods of the future in the vehicle industry. In the framework of this cooperation Knorr-Bremse grants scolarships to the most talented students to work on one of these projects. Prof. Dominique Thévenin of the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg was awarded an honorary doctorate degree of BUTE for his internationally recognized research activity and longstanding fruitful scientific relationship with BUTE.
