Industrial cooperation project with Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Budapest
The BUTE Faculty of Mechanical Engineering works together with Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Budapest since 2016 on R&D projects that will provide the materials, technologies, and methods of the future in the vehicle industry. In the framework of this cooperation Knorr-Bremse grants scolarships to the most talented students to work on one of these projects.
In the past year the acoustics research group of the Department of Fluid Mechanics has won one such scolarship. Dr Csaba Horváth assistant professor leads the project team. Dr. Miklós Balogh assistant professor, Kristóf Tokaji PhD student, and Kálmán Kustány Msc student are the other members of the team. They were interview by autopro.hu on how we can attenuate the noise that is produced during the air release from pressure vessels that are built in the brake system of railway carriages.
